REDUCING THE GLUTEN IN OUR TRADITIONALLY BREWED BEER

For 30 years, Perth Brewery beer has been, and continues to be proudly crafted using age-old traditional brewing processes and ingredients: water, grain (mostly malted barley, sometimes along with oats and wheat), hops and yeast.

Grains naturally contain gluten in varying amounts according to grain type. As a result, traditionally brewed beer contains gluten. However, what makes our beer unique is during the fermentation process we add an enzyme to reduce gluten protein levels to under 20 ppm (parts per million) while not compromising the fantastic beer flavour our customers have always loved.

It is important to point out our traditionally brewed beer is gluten-reduced, not gluten free. Only beer brewed entirely from ingredients without gluten, such as sorghum, can legally be identified as gluten free. As a beer lover, if you've ever tried beer that is truly gluten free, you'll know it isn't Perth beer!

HERE’S TO YOUR HEALTH

Your health and well-being are of utmost importance to us. Today many people have gluten sensitivities or prefer to limit the amount of gluten in their diet to mitigate their inflammatory response to gluten.

If you are one such person and have been avoiding beer because of your sensitivities, the great news is our beers are a fantastic option for you. And if you're one of the fortunate ones without any gluten sensitivities, you can rest assured knowing we've never moved away from our traditionally brewed flavour.

Gluten sensitivities can cause serious health issues and as such we take our approach to the communication and verification of the gluten-reduced aspect of our beer very seriously.
